Occupy Wall Street News: Discouraging Rape Victims

The Baltimore Sun: 'Occupy' memo could discourage victims from reporting assaults

Efforts by the Occupy Baltimore protest group to evolve into a self-contained, self-governing community have erupted into controversy with the distribution of a pamphlet that victim advocates and health workers fear discourages victims of sexual assaults from contacting police.

The pamphlet says that members of the protest group who believe they are victims or who suspect sexual abuse "are encouraged to immediately report the incident to the Security Committee," which will investigate and "supply the abuser with counseling resources."

The directive also says, in part, "Though we do not encourage the involvement of the police in our community, the survivor has every right, and the support of Occupy Baltimore, to report the abuse to the appropriate authorities."

I really wish these people would go away already.

Weird News

Man Allegedly Beat Woman with Frozen Armadillo

DALLAS - A man used a frozen armadillo to attack a 57-year old Pleasant Grove woman, Dallas police said.
The incident happened on Sept. 29 in an apartment complex parking lot.

According to investigators, the altercation occurred when the suspect was selling the carcass to the victim, who planned to eat the animal.

The pair apparently began arguing over the price of the item when the man twice threw the armadillo at the woman.

The animal first struck the woman in the leg and then in her chest.
She was reportedly bruised by the attack.

Detectives have been unable to find the man, who could face assault charges.

Facebook = FAIL

Facebook's revamp for the News Feed is an utter failure. If it's not fixed I am not planning on returning to Facebook. I opened up a Twitter account for my news addiction and am focusing more of my attention on Google Plus. All in all, it's really disheartening.  Most of my friends and family are on Facebook, so switching to Google Plus disconnects me to them until they switch over. I could post my ramblings on Facebook without trying to see what's going on with anyone else, but I want to see what they're doing and not just indulge myself.

Siiiigh...

News For the Day

Time for the news of the day!  Yay!

pajamasmedia.com
‎"Obama thought that he would replicate the EU paradigm. He would bring in properly certified technocrats from academia or government like Chu, Geithner, Goolsbee, Holder, Orszag, Romer, and Summers to oversee massive new regulations and taxes that would dictate from on high how the ignorant masses must be protected from everything from cheap gas to old-style light bulbs.

In less than three years, they all proved far more ignorant about what makes America work than the local car dealer, welder, or farmer. After Obama, Americans will not be fooled for a generation or so into thinking that a Harvard PhD or Berkeley professor “really” knows that borrowing is prosperity, that gas should cost as much as it does in Europe, and that the more we pay millions to regulate, the more the vastly fewer who produce make us all prosperous."

"Had McCain been elected, or had Obama proved a canny Clinton triangulator, we would never have gotten out of the bipartisan rut of massive borrowing, growing government, higher taxes, and unionized public employee regulators. But with Obama as the great liberal deliverer and with the masses scared to death of Him, the next president will inherit an America in catharsis. The future is uncertain, but at least now, after our cauterizing, we have some sort of chance to return to the old principles that might save us."

Federal Housing Administration: The Next Bailout Request?
"This has led to the unintended consequence of people who were never supposed to be getting loans backed by the FHA seeking them out. As Kelly puts it:
FHA was founded to make loans to a select number of people based on need and income.  It has grown from funding 3 percent of all mortgages in 2006 to more than 40 percent today.

And the U.S. taxpayers are potentially on the hook for all of it."
Catch that? 40% of ALL mortgage loans are funded by the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT.
80,550 children without a parent?  Deport them too.  I like keeping families together.  The comments on this article are great.

"But back in Obama's political hometown, those of us familiar with the Chicago Way can see something else in Solyndra — something that the Washington crowd calls "optics." In fact, it's not just a Washington saga — it has all the elements of a Chicago City Hall story, except with more zeros."

News for the Day

Britain’s criminal utopia
dailycaller.com"Sales of baseball bats are up over 5,000% on Amazon.co.uk. This isn’t to mark the beginning of little league season. These are desperate homeowners and shopkeepers purchasing the best — and in reality, only — self-defense tool that the British government will allow them to own…at least for now."

"It has been illegal to own a handgun in Britain for nearly 15 years. As a result, Britain’s violent crime rate has soared. In fact, Britain consistently clocks-in with the highest violent crime rate in all of Europe. Last week’s riots notwithstanding, you are six times more likely to be mugged in London than in New York."

"Next year, the U.N. will convene leaders from various countries around the world to finish writing an international Arms Trade Treaty that could severely restrict or even outright ban Americans’ right to sell, purchase, carry or own a firearm. Anti-gun extremists have been working on this treaty for well over a decade. Now they’re closer than ever to realizing their dream.

Ironically, the British government is one of the strongest proponents of this latest U.N. scheme to destroy our Second Amendment rights. Evidently, British politicians think America and the rest of the world should enjoy the same the criminal utopia that was on full display in London last week."

"Western democratic revolutions were rebellions against tradition. In practice, the revolution in Egypt — like the 1979 Iranian revolution — is a revolution for tradition. It might be better called a counterrevolution against modernity. Sure, there are 10, 20, and perhaps even 30 percent of Egyptians who want a more pragmatic, moderate state. But that’s precisely the point: in a democratic vote they will lose."

"The main complaint about the Mubarak government is not its handling of the economy, or denial of equality to women, or stand on gay rights or abortion, or kowtowing to religious fundamentalists, but its alleged subservience to Zionist-imperialist domination. Post-Mubarak governments will go out of their way to prove they defy such influences. That will not be good for Western interests or regional peace and stability."

Talks about an article in People's Weekly World, official newspaper of the Communist Party USA, written by Sam Webb, chairman of the Communist Party USA, that basically says "no other party besides the Democratic Party stands a chance of beating the GOP next year."

Lots of other stuff too about Commie Party USA supporting Obama and Dems. Go look at it.

Rep. Mike Doyle: We have negotiated with terrorists. This small group of terrorists have made it impossible to spend any money.

Biden: They have acted like terrorists.

"Earlier in the day, Biden told Senate Democrats that Republican leaders have “guns to their heads” in trying to negotiate deals."

Rep. Emanuel Cleaver: The Tea Partiers and the GOP have made their slash and burn lunacy clear, and while I do not love this compromise, my vote is a hose to stop the burning. The arsonists must be stopped.

"Biden told Democratic lawmakers that the deal would take away the tea party’s “weapon of mass destruction” — the threat of a default on U.S. debt obligations.

“They have no compunction about blowing up the economy to get what they want,” Doyle told POLITICO after the meeting."

Texas Notice:
Texas Senate Bill 321 takes effect the 1st! It prohibits most employers from enacting and enforcing bans on employees transporting and storing firearms in their locked, private motor vehicles while parked at work. This law recognizes that hard-working Texans' right to self-defense does not end when they drive onto their employers property, and it honors the strong sporting culture of the Lone Star State where employees often hunt or visit the local gun club before or after work.

Boo yeah!

"If you’re going to have a Euro-scale welfare state with a Euro-scale regulatory state while plumping up Euro-scale labor unions and ossified Euro-scale crony capitalists… well… guess what? You’re going to get Euro-scale unemployment. There’s no way the White House didn’t see this coming.

There are, however, two things the administration didn’t see coming.

First, they really did believe the economy would come back. Maybe not with as many jobs as other people hoped — but, hey, that’s just the price of “fundamentally transforming” a nation. All they had to do was goose the economy enough for Big Labor and Big Business and Big Finance to keep the campaign coffers full. And all of those unemployed? What are they going to complain about, once they’ve been given “free” health care, ever-extended unemployment benefits, and the promise of a “jam tomorrow” union gig?

That must’ve looked like a pretty sweet strategy early in 2009, when it was first being formulated.

But the second thing the administration didn’t see coming might just be its undoing.

Except for the 20% of Americans who call themselves “liberal,” Americans never wanted a cradle-to-grave welfare state. Americans are (still) Americans, and we want to work."

"Onyango Obama, 67, is the “Uncle Omar” mentioned in the president’s book, “Dreams From My Father.” He is also from from Kenya and is the brother of Zeituni. And last week, “Uncle Omar” Obama was arrested in Framingham, Mass. for DUI and nearly colliding with a police car."

‎"Americans were enraged last year by the story of Barack Obama’s illegal alien Aunt Zeituni. Zeituni had mooched the system in Boston for public housing, welfare and food stamps for years. All while ignoring deportation orders and skipping immigration hearings, before a judge (in an unprecedented closed hearing) granted her asylum in May 2010. "

"[Basel education minister and member of the liberal democrat party (LDP)] Eymann has opposed requests from parents to exempt their children from the lessons, saying the government needs to use the schools to have unrestricted access to children."

Gets worse:

"The kit for teachers to give sex-education lessons to primary school children uses models and recommends having children massage each other or to rub themselves with warm sand bags, accompanied by soft music, according to The Local, a Swiss newspaper in English.

“Children should be encouraged to develop and experience their sexuality in a pleasurable way,” Daniel Schneider, a deputy kindergarten rector for Basel who helped develop the sex ed curriculum along with experts, had said earlier this year. "

Remember Texas had rolling blackouts during the snow and ice at the beginning of the year? We'll get more of those if these rules take effect. Plus it's going to make MORE people unemployed.

"The Federal Department of Justice...has suggested that the use of wood from India that is not finished by Indian workers is illegal, not because of U.S. law, but because it is the Justice Department’s interpretation of a law in India. (If the same wood from the same tree was finished by Indian workers, the material would be legal.) This action was taken without the support and consent of the government in India. "
