Occupy Wall Street News: Discouraging Rape Victims
The Baltimore Sun: 'Occupy' memo could discourage victims from reporting assaults
Efforts by the Occupy Baltimore protest group to evolve into a self-contained, self-governing community have erupted into controversy with the distribution of a pamphlet that victim advocates and health workers fear discourages victims of sexual assaults from contacting police.
The pamphlet says that members of the protest group who believe they are victims or who suspect sexual abuse "are encouraged to immediately report the incident to the Security Committee," which will investigate and "supply the abuser with counseling resources."
The directive also says, in part, "Though we do not encourage the involvement of the police in our community, the survivor has every right, and the support of Occupy Baltimore, to report the abuse to the appropriate authorities."
I really wish these people would go away already.

The Debt Crisis: It's personal finances on crack...

Let me explain in normal terms about why the Republicans are right on the "debt crisis." The government has maxed-out their credit card (government spending > tax income). They are asking the bank/lending company (congress) to increase their limit. On top of this, their hours at work have been cut (Unemployment at 9+%== fewer tax payers working and paying taxes) and they are still spending money like they are making overtime. The bank has denied them a larger credit card and said that they need to balance their checkbook and get their budget under control. President Obama is asking for a pay raise (tax increase) instead of more hours at work (more jobs == more tax revinue).

Why did we go after Osama Bin Laden? He was such a GREAT guy! We should have loved him. I mean he was the leader of Al-Qaeda, a terrorist organization. Terrorist organizations do such great humanitarian deeds, like keep the population down and remodeling.
Osama Bin Laden has SO many accomplishments. Osama masterminded 9/11 which got rid of that pesky World Trade Center and caused them to remodel part of the Pentagon. It also caused a SAW moment for the people on board of United 93. They ended up dead, but oh boy they learned to step it up! 9/11 only killed around 3000 innocent people. He also tried to remodel the World Trade Center's underground parking lot back in 1993 as well!
Among Bin Laden's other great humanitarian deeds are the 1998 bombings at the U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania that killed more than 200, the 2000 bombing of the USS Cole in Yemen, the 1993 gunfight that killed 18 U.S. troops in Somalia, and the 1996 bombing of the Khobar military complex in Saudi Arabia that left 19 U.S. soldiers dead.
Osama Bin Laden LOVED America. He loved each and every last one of us. Why, oh why, would the US military kill him?
I will never understand people who get all happy and celebratory when we kill a man like this. They all just say we brought him to justice and that it happened to be by death---and that since he's dead we will never have that fear of him escaping or being broken out of prison or him plotting from prison. He would just do MORE great deeds to help the world, like he always has.
This is just like when the Palestinians were celebrating in the streets, passing candy out to little kids, after the Palestinian military went into Israel and slaughtered an innocent Israeli family! They killed the parents, a 6-year-old, and a baby. We are just like the Palestinians and those who celebrated 9/11 with dancing in the streets!
Woe as us!

Intervention: The Fed's Addiction to Spending

A problem has come to head in the political world as the fed will reach its debt limit, the amount the federal government is allowed to borrow--AKA the debt ceiling. The fed is to reach its debt limit around August 2nd if the debt ceiling is not raised.
But the debt ceiling is not the real problem. The debt ceiling is a point people have selected to begin the fight against the real problem, the spending addiction of the fed.
It is estimated that the fed will spend 3.6 trillion this year. The fed brings in 2.2 trillion through taxes mostly on personal and businesses income. Based on these estimations the fed will have overspent its income by 1.4 trillion, or 64%, for just THIS year.
That is 1.4 trillion that will have to be borrowed from other countries, mostly likely China who we have been borrowing from for a number of years. The US already has 14.5 trillion in debt. The 1.4 trillion fed overspent will have to borrow increase the debt 15.9 trillion by the end of THIS year.
2012: 15.9 + 1.4 = 17.3 trillion
2013: 17.3 + 1.4 = 18.7 trillion
2015: 18.7 + 1.4 + 1.4 = 21.5 trillion
The fed keeps up its addiction by passing bills that create programs like universal healthcare, expand existing programs and services like the EPA, and passing multi-billion dollar bailouts for banks and car companies. The public OKs this spending because it tugs at their heartstrings and the fed eggs us on with: "People will lose their jobs without these! People will get sick without these! People will die without these!" We don't want that! Think of the children! So we agree and give the fed its drug of choice: More spending.
When will the fed be satisfied that they have spent enough? Do we want to find out? They are already spending more than twice their annual income. The fed needs an intervention for its addiction.
Woe as me! What can I do, Carol?! Politicians don't listen to me! Wooooe!
Well, did you know you can call or email your Congressmen? Search Google for House of Representatives and Senate to find their websites. You can look up your Congressmen from there and give them an earfull. Also, because of the wonders of Facebook and Twitter, you can pester them on there. They work for YOU. The more you pester them the better. I already pestered mine.

Debt Ceiling Claims by Media and Politicians: I Call BS

The sky is falling again, according to false claims spread by news reporters and politicians about the extent of a possible government shut down if the debt ceiling for the federal government is not raised by August 2nd through a deal passed by Congress between Republicans (anti-raising debt ceiling) and Democrats (pro-raising debt ceiling). Here are some of the false claims:
If the debt ceiling is not raise, the federal government will shut down and there will be anarchy! Wrong.
If the debt ceiling is not raise, old people and military will not get their monthly checks! Wrong.
If the debt ceiling is not raise, the US credit rating could be lowered and cause interest rates on loans to skyrocket! Wrong.
If the debt ceiling is not raise, the world will end! Wrong.
There would NOT be an absolute shut down of all federal departments and services. A little investigative work proves this and it is being agreed upon by people who know what they're talking about. The fed brings in 175-200 billion a month. Here's the big items people are concerned about:
Interest on debt - 29 billion
Social Security (Old people checks) - 49 billion
Medicare and Medicaid - 50 billion
Active Duty Military (Checks, benefits) - 3 billion
Veteran’s Affairs - 3 billion
= 134 billion
Leftover amount is between 41 and 66 billion. So old people, sick people, and military are taken care of and there is plenty of money to fund the essentials like the CIA, border patrol agents, and a few other services. So NO anarchy.
The US credit rating has already started to be downgraded by credit agencies. The credit company Egan-Jones has already downgraded it from AAA (top score) to AA+ (not so great but still good) based on the US debt standing at more than 100 percent of its gross domestic product, not another reason. It is a bad thing, but the effect would be like going from an 800 credit score to 680. Interest rates will be higher for new loans the federal government takes out, but interest rates will not not skyrocket. If the downgrading of the US credit score has any effect on private citizens it will be small.
Obviously, the world will not end if the debt ceiling is not raised. Do we even need to discuss this? Anyone telling you the world is about to end is trying to scare you into doing their bidding. Don't listen to them. Duh.

Snopes.com is biased?
Apparently it is. I've been keeping up with the news lately and the Cash for Clunkers program. Fox news has been talking about how there was a privacy agreement on the dealership's part of the website saying that if a dealer agreed to using their system then their computer was considered federal property and everything on the computer was considered federal property.

First, Snopes says that there WAS a privacy agreement on the dealer's side of the website that said that any computers agreeing to use the website were considered federal government property and anything on the computer is federal government property while logged into the system. So Snopes admits this agreement was on there, an agreement that breaches the privacy and rights of dealers. Snopes tries to write off this agreement as being "poorly-worded."
Do they think that we're that dumb that we would gobble that up and not question the privacy agreement anymore?
Second, Snopes says that Glenn Beck from Fox news warns viewers while doing a segment about Cash for Clunker's privacy agreement not to complete an application from their own computers. Snopes tries to spin this to make it sound like Glenn Beck said that the agreement was on the consumer and dealer sides of the website. Snopes tries to make Glenn Beck sound like he's spreading false alarm and lies.
